Exploding Box

We had a "crafting" session at work on Saturday, a group of 4 of us got together to create our own exploding boxes, below is mine, I just have to add pictures and I have a great Christmas gift, which didn't take very long to make.

I found a link with excellent directions on how to make these (you will need PDF viewer software which can be downloaded from Adobe for free): click HERE for the directions

ATC's - The first batch

As promised in my last post, here are the first of my artist trading cards, I have called them the "glitter collection" as I have used glitter glue on all of them.

My 10 year old daughter has become infatuated with them so she is going to do some of her own. She loves to draw so hers will be of her drawings. It is a great activity to share with her.

Artist Trading Cards

Has anyone out there heard of these before?

Artist Trading Cards, (ATC’S), are miniature works of art created in a 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” format. These cards can be completed in the matter of minutes or take as long as you need. This compact size is a perfect place to try new techniques.

The idea behind them is that they are made to trade. Meeting others and trading is in itself, part of the charm. People all over the world are joining groups and exchanging their miniature creations with each other.

Artist trading cards can be made with any combination of fabric, beads, scraps of paper, photos, batting, decorative thread, yards, wool, paint, stamps, really just about anything! The only rule is the 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” size. Cards are usually quite firm but can be made more firm simply by gluing on a card for backing.

ATC’s can be individual original pieces or one of a series. Each trading card in a series may have a common color, theme or technique that is used on all the cards . To document a series, you can name the group and then number each card one of the total number. Also include on the back of your cards some information about you the artist!

I hadn't heard of them until a co-worker said I should do them so I Googled what they were and now I am to start making my own! What a great idea to get your name out there and your art in the hands of other artists. I have started making a few (and I am only going to make one of a kind originals, some people like to make several of the same, I think (unless it is a photo) that it is more fun making them unique).

I have ordered a stamp (see pic below) from Vistaprint (they have a site in both Canada and the US), so I can stamp the back of each.

When I get a couple collections together I will post pictures.

If anyone on here does there own, I would love to trade in person or by mail.

Two little words which mean so much.
My Dad passed away a week ago today, and I received some wonderful things from some wonderful people.
These are a few of the cards I have made to say thanks, they are simple cards, but the senitment comes through...

Goodbyes are hard

One of my co-workers is leaving (her last day is Wednesday) so I decided to make her a card and this is the result:
I used Classic K McKenna Double sided cardstock, Stickles glitter glue in Xmas Red, the inside saying (not pictured) was done in Microsoft Word on rose colored cardstock I picked up from Wal-Mart, the round circle with a flower on it is from a Creative Memories package, and the name on the front are rub-on letters from the Making Memories Rub-On Book "Card Sayings" that I purchased at Michaels.

Make the Cut!

Has anyone else downloaded this software yet?

I purchased it awhile ago, but haven't really used it yet. It works with the Cricut but gives many more options than SCAL. Don't get me wrong I still like my SCAL, but as I play more with SCAL I am finding a lot more things to do. If your interested there are some great videos on YouTube, just search for "Make the Cut".

Let me know what you think, or if you already use, what are your opinions on it?

Sorry...I have been neglectful

This has been a crazy year already and I haven't had a chance to do much crafting. I am hoping to change things soon. Wishing all my followers a very Happy Valentine's day on Sunday :-)
