Christmas and New Years

Well it's over for another year, Christmas that is, and I did not get to do what I had hoped. I was hoping to make all my cards this year but just ran out of time. I am thinking that for 2010 I am going to start on January 1 (after all it is a paid day off work, might as well do something that I like!)

So I hope everyone had a great Christmas and all the best in 2010.

I love twins, especially new babies! I had the opportunity to go to a former co-worker's baby shower for her new little bundles. I made this card using Paper Doll Dress Up, I used the crying babies, and to make their sleepers I used the costume key. I used Sharpie's for out-ling and chalk for the cheeks and hair. The picture is not the greatest as I made it late at night and the shower was the next day.

Wedding Card

I am going to be attending a wedding reception next weekend and came up with this little card for the happy couple:

I used a standard white card covered with a sheet of "Paper Runway" paper that I bought at Wal-Mart. Cut out the names using SCAL V2 and the little couple was an image that I found on-line here. I just printed it out in black and white then coloured in with felt markers and chalk, and a little glitter on the bouquet.

Middle of August!

I am still finding it hard to believe that summer is slowly coming to an end and the kids will be back in school. My goal for this coming weekend is to tidy my craft table, organize my papers and get back on track.
My challenge for my readers is to get organized and create something amazing, then share your creations with me here.

I am really excited about this. The upgrade to version 2 was $30.00, not so bad when you think about how many cartridges you are never going to have to buy!!!

I found a really cool blogger who has posted a video on SCAL version 2 and all the fun things it can do, so check it out here. And don't forget you can download SCAL here.

Have a great crafty weekend everyone!

Dollar Store Find: Superfine Glitter

I was at our local dollar store (Your Dollar Store With More) the other day, and came across this little surprise!

For $4.00 plus tax, look at all the glitter I got! The glitter is really SUPERFINE! It will look great on cards and other projects, can't wait to rip them open and start shaking!!

Birthday Card - Girl

So yet another birthday is on it's way for one of my children's friends. A young girl, who likes pink, used SCAL, vinyl, skittles, stamps and ink. Sorry the pictures are not more clear, the lighting in my office is not the greatest!

I covered a standar size blank card with paper then embellished. Here is the front of the card...

Inside of the card, used the same paper as what I covered the outside with, but used a narrower piece, stamped the birthday wishes and design below the birthday wish...

Thanks for looking!

Another Birthday Card

This time for a friend of my eldest son's. Used SCAL and "Hall of Heroes' font (you can download it here), cut out the Transformers logo and name from silver vinyl! I love the vinyl because you can use it just like a sticker, no glue was used in the making of this project!!! I also used a couple of stamps I had in my stamp basket (I have never been big on stamping until now!) and silver ink to create a tiny border (can't really see it in the picture, sorry) SO here it is (have I mentioned how much I love SCAL?!)

More Father's Day Cards

This one I created for my husband's dad, it was made using SCAL, first I used the basic shape long rectangle and then the herald font for DAD, welding them together and cutting the card, then I cut DAD again after removing the rectangle, pasting the individual letters over the cut on the card, embelished with butterfly stickers and stamped edges. This card was made for my husband's step-dad using the Cricut Wild Card Cartridge, embelished with matching blue pebbles (skittles) in the corners.

Father's Day Card

I was browsing the web for ideas on a Father's Day Card for my dad and came across this blog post for a tie on shirt card.  This is my version of this card, I think it turned out pretty good for my first try, of course I went with a "Tacky Tie" cause that just suits my dad!  Click above for the link for the download of the instructions, as well as a video tutorial.

Here are a few pictures of some projects I finally finished (hoping my sister's are not my blog readers too....LOL).  I bought blank cards, used my Cricut Expression, Paper Doll Dress Up Catridge, SCAL, SVG Files I downloaded online, stickers, rub-ons, pebbles, glitter glue and some other embelishments, some great verses I found on some web sites (after a Google search or two) then printed on coloured paper and wha-la, a few of my projects are done!

This is a birthday card for a friend who loves frogs!
Cards for three of my sisters, one who likes purple, one who likes frogs (what's with the frog lovers?)  and one who likes blue!

This was a mother's day card for my mom

So that's what I have been doing, still many more to do!

Topsy Turvey World

Just as I started to think things in my life were going to change my family was hit with two deaths in two weeks.  My husband's grandfather passed away 3 weeks ago, we attended his funeral 2 weeks ago.  Just a mere two days after we returned home from that funeral, my lovely mother-in-law was suddenly taken from us at the age of 55.  We are now coping with these loses, slowly our hearts are mending, but I have once again had to step back from my crafting projects.  I hope whomever reads this blog will understand the lapses of entries.  God bless all.

SCAL: my new best friend

I have become (like so many others) disillusioned with ProvoCrafts. So I have taken the step, that I recommend many others should, and downloaded Sure Cuts A Lot or SCAL for short.

If you need to know why just visit the blog I visit the most: Just A Scrappin'.

I am a believer in making things easier (and cheaper, especially with the economy the way it is!) and this is surely the way!

Now I Did It

So my 34th birthday was this past Sunday (Jan 18) and to celebrate I slipped on a patch of ice the following Tuesday and broke my ankle (which now has two screws holding it together). So I am going to be off work for at least 2 weeks (maybe longer).

This puts me in a bad/good situation. BAD-no work means no money (SUCKS BIG TIME). GOOD-I may actually take some time to do some scrapping or card creating. I am however, going to have to neglect my computer for awhile as it is just to difficult to sit at my computer desk, try and put my leg up and do all I want to do on here.

So in a couple of weeks I hope to have a few projects completed and ready to share. For now you get this....

2009 Word of The Year

So many words that mean so much, but to choose one to represent me for a whole year, and then share it with the world here, would have to be something that means alot to me right now. Well after much thought and consideration I have decided that my word for 2009 is:

Why Cherish? Well I am 33 and the youngest of 10 children, my parent's are in their mid 70's and I am starting to realize my parents will not be aound much longer so I cherish each and every day I have with them.

I have grown up resounding myself to that fact that I will be still quite young when my parents pass, it saddens me to know that I will not have them around as long as my older siblings have and that they will never see me become a grandparent as some of my older siblings have, or for that matter even be around when my children graduate or get married; so for as long as I have them I will cherish them, and when they are gone I will cherish my memories of them.

I love you Mom and Dad; Happy New Year.

PS *get well soon Mom*
